Crazy Gouda Bread
INGREDIENTS:
1 tablespoon dry yeast
1 ½ cups very warm water
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 teaspoon of rosemary
½ teaspoon of sage
½ teaspoon of thyme
4 cups of flour
2 teaspoons of salt (put aside for the flour)
Gouda cheese, grated
Honey of your choice
DIRECTIONS:
In a bowl, dissolve yeast in water.
With a mortar and pestle, crush rosemary, sage, and thyme together.
To bowl of dissolved yeast, add sugar, oil, and crushed spices. Do not add salt yet!
Add flour, then add salt. Stir together. If needed, add more warm water to make a wet dough.
Stir until smooth. Do not knead!
Cover and let rise until doubled in size – about 1 hour.
When risen, turn onto a floured surface. Shape into a French-style loaf and place on a greased baking sheet.
Cover top of dough with grated cheese and honey. Let rise until doubled in size – about 30 minutes.
Heat oven to 400°F. Bake for 20 minutes.
Let cool, then go CRAZY!
